Are you ready to join the finest
regiment that ever was? Do you want to be part of a team that does
precision work?
Are you ready to travel the Western US and the world?
Bydand is looking for YOU!
Bydand Forever is
always in search of men who are in good condition, ready to take on a
challenge, and to enjoy life as a Gordon Highlander. Bydand Forever
has built a reputation for excellence in performance and conduct, a
reputation that is known throughout the US, Canada, the United
Kingdom, South Africa, and Australia. Being a member, whether carrying
a rifle, playing the pipes, or any of the other crucial tasks, is an
honor to be treasured.Interested? Here's what you'll get:
- Complete training in the Manual of
Arms as modified for the Martini-Henry
- Uniform and field equipment for use
while a member of Bydand Forever
- The opportunity to travel throughout
the Western US, with occasional jaunts to Scotland (and, hopefully,
Australia)
- The camaraderie that can only be
found in the Regimental Family
Sounds pretty good so far, eh? What does
it cost, we hear some of the remaining skeptics cry. . .
- Time. Time to attend drill, periodic
work parties, and participate in the performances scheduled throughout
the year. For these reasons, recruits in and around San Diego, CA or
Tucson, AZ are primarily sought.
- Money. Member dues are $10/mo. Costs
for travel to performances are generally borne by the members, though we
tend to camp and feed ourselves to keep expenses as low as possible. On
international tour, room/board is generally provided by our host, and we
make every effort to have all transportation costs covered as well.
- Spirit. One cannot be an effective
member of Bydand Forever if one's heart is not truly in it. We make
every effort to make participation as enjoyable as possible, but Bydand
Forever is not a social club. It is an organization dedicated to the
Regiment on the battlefield. There are times when you will be standing
in the blazing sun, sweat blinding you, and some Games official gabbing
on about something no one cares about. At the same time, there will be
times when you are welcomed like a brother, and treated like a king
because you are part of Bydand Forever.
If you wish to be part of this elite
team, or if you want more information, please contact Sgt. David Inglett
(see the "Contacting Bydand" page).
